Why is cng considered a green fuel

Combustion of natural gas produces negligible amounts of sulphur, oxides of nitrogen NOXs , mercury, and particulates. Thus, it reduces the probability of smog formation to a great degree.

NOXs are responsible for the formation of acid rain. It reduces the emissions of carbon dioxide significantly. CNG is non-corrosive. Thus, it has less maintenance cost as engines running on CNG would require less servicing. It is cost-effective and affordable as well.

CNG is gaining a lot of popularity these days due to this reason. Thus, we must consume CNG cautiously as it does cause air pollution contrary to the popular belief. It is a non-renewable source of energy. We have limited supplies and overconsumption of existing resources will only result in environmental degradation.

This means less vehicle maintenance and longer engine life. CNG vehicles produce the fewest emissions of any motor fuel. CNG produces significantly less pollutants than gasoline. Intervals between tune-ups for natural gas vehicles are extended from 30, to 50, miles.

Intervals between oil changes for natural gas vehicles are dramatically extended-- anywhere from 10, to 25, additional miles depending on how the vehicle is used. Natural gas does not react to metals the way gasoline does, so pipes and mufflers last much longer. Typical fuel is heavily loaded with chemicals, and when used it releases damaging byproducts into the air. CNG does not contain things like formaldehyde and benzene, found in standard diesel fuel.

Therefore, using CNG reduces the release of harmful emissions. This dramatically reduces air pollution, making the environment safer for everyone. There is also the issue of global warming. Many people believe that harmful emissions in the atmosphere, such as those released from traditional fuel, increase global warming and lead to climate change. Compressed natural gas is non-corrosive and therefore, engines that run on CNG have been found to require less maintenance and ultimately last longer.

Fewer broken parts means less waste in landfills. Furthermore, because CNG lacks many of the unsafe chemicals, discarded engine parts are less harmful when and if they do reach the landfill.
